Pilates & Bodywork

"The only real guide to your true age lies not in years or how you think you feel but as you actually are as infallibly indicated by the degree of natural and normal flexibility enjoyed by your spine." Joseph Pilates (1880-1967)

As Joe pointed out above, you are only as fit as your spine. Pilates is anti-ageing because it tones and strengthens the muscles without the impact on joints. It is a balance of strength and flexibility. Pilates focuses on postural alignment, core stability and isolating muscles to rebalance the whole body, helping cleints find better alignment and freedom of movement.

It is therefore the perfect exercise system for the 21st Century and works as an antidote to days spent hunched over a computer, driving back and forth to Perth and carrying children or heavy bags. Pilates addresses the mind and body, working from the inside out, every exercise focuses on the power house to protect the back, correct posture and help bring the body into balance, decreasing injury and pain.

Pilates can be performed in many different ways ranging from Matwork Classes to Studio Pilates, using specifically chosen excercises designed to suit your body on highly specialised Balanced Body studio equipment.

Exercises are performed on the floor using your own body weight and gravity as resistance and some small apparatus, (bands, balls foam rollers etc.).
